We provide assistance from the initial idea, developing complex cut patterns with the latest computer-aided design (CAD) software, advising on selecting right materials for your project, machining and finishing. We use Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology as our primary tool for CAD and prototyping.
Our laser cutting capabilities enable you to see your drawings turn to reality, with its ability to cut complex shapes with precise measurements. The laser cutting system at Desert Star Plastics can cut plastic up to ¼” in a single pass with maximum accuracy and compatible speeds. Laser engraving on clear acrylic offers a very unique look. The frost produced during engraving provides a nice white contrast against the clear material and enhances its appearance.
CNC routing unlocks doors for opportunities in plastic fabrication. Desert Star Plastics employs computer numerical control (CNC) routers with up to 5' x 10' tables allowing us to work with oversized sheets of plastic. With the use of CNC routers we can produce parts that are precise and identical. We can create a single part or a production order of thousands. The CNC router moves and cuts at the same time, creating complex patterns as quickly as simple shapes. Those complex patterns are virtually impossible to produce with manual operations that are too labor intensive and prone to error.
We work with a variety of CAD data files. DXF files are the ideal way to send us your projects and inquiries. If your concept is preliminary, a simple sketch with dimensions and sizes can be emailed or faxed to us for evaluation and quoting.
